The Small Business Socio-economic programs and the AbilityOne Program have much in common, from legislative support to product and service business lines to federal customers served. Historically, the two programs seem to compete for their shares of federal spend. This uneasy competition has blurred the facts surrounding both small businesses and AbilityOne in the market place. In today's environment it is important we first understand the results of the socio-economic programs, and then leverage the collective strengths of the two programs with a fresh approach to satisfying federal government needs. A new, more collaborative approach has great potential for increasing the socio-economic results of both programs, while also providing better support to the federal customer.
